Create custom Activator:

Create a .desktop file in your ~/.local/share/applications folder for the script (or in usr/share/applications for system wide access). E.g.:

Comment=bash script to do custom stuff

Exec=/path/to/bash/script %U
Icon=/path/to/some/fancy/icon
Terminal=false (or true)
Categories=Other;

It will show up in the Other category for slingshot. Run it and then select “Keep in dock” when it is running.

Recipes

Remove obsolate PPA

  • edit /etc/apt/sources.list
  • install synaptic
  • sudo update-manager
  • ppa-purge:
    sudo apt-get install ppa-purge
    sudo apt-get update
    sudo ppa-purge ppa:xorg-edger/ppa
    

Add cloud printer

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:simon-cadman/niftyrepo
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install cupscloudprint

Once the installation is ready, you can connect your server to the Google Cloud Print account.
